DescriptionWork purchased after J.D. Walker's solo exhibition, "Glass Works by J.D. Walker" featuring "Beneath the Surface" and "Watermark" series. This work is from the "Watermark" series and is a study for her larger, 11-piece work entitled "Undercover." This work is mainly black, gray, and yellow. There is a figure holding an umbrella in the foreground with her back to the viewer. The figure is composed on both pieces of glass. On the right piece of glass in the background is another dark figure holding an umbrella and there are three black trees to the right of that figure. The two figures are walking on a rain-drenched cobblestone street. The sky is a yellow and white color. There are accents of blue throughout this work. In a note dated May 27, 2009, Jody Danner Walker explains her working process: "Kiln-formed Glass Layers of glass with glass enamels on different layers Cast. Each layer is fired separately until I get the colors to my liking. Each layer takes 12-14 hours in the kiln. Then all the layers are put together and fused in the kiln. This takes 2 days."
