The kabuki play is 'Ume no hatsuharu gojûsan tsugi' ('Plum Spring: The Fifty-three Stations'). The date is 2nd month of 1835, the publisher is Yamamoto-ya Heikichi, and it was performed in the Ichimura theater in Edo (now Tokyo). This print was originally part of a diptych, or possibly a triptych. I am attaching an image of 2 sheets."
