Acrylic on canvas in heavy impasto application depicting several figures in a very bright color scheme. Two central figures depicted very grotesquely dominate the composition. Surrounding these figures are other smaller figures and whimsical animals plus various packages and bottles of various spices and spiced products, such as "Old El Paso
Tamales," "Pure Garlic Powder" etc. Words, such as "fire," "No Onion" and "Life's" appear throughout. The painting is signed "Sherrod" and dated (19)57 in the upper right hand corner in red paint.
On the verso, "60 x 50" appears on the upper left key in pencil. The accession number 75.1.1 is written in black marker and "1073" is written in pencil. On the upper right key in black marker appears: "Title: Life's Seasoning; Artist: Philip Sherrod; Gallery: Jacque Selgilman; Price: $2,500.00" also "1073" in pencil.
