Portrait of William Thomas Richards
Drawing
A traditionally-composed portrait depicting Mr. Richards. He is facing slightly to the left, but his entire face is visible. He is a well-dressed man with wire rim glasses. The colors used are black, white, and flesh tones. It is signed "Hinshaw 1910" in the lower right corner.
According to Lileth Standford, this painting is of her father William Thomas Richards. It was painted in 1910 when Mr.Richards was a Madison County Auditor. Mr. Richards was a civic political worker who had entertained Teddy Roosevelt. This is according to an undated letter written to Mr. Glen Anderson. This letter as well as another is in the accession file 72.12.1.
