Big Shot
Collage
Collage of reproduced images (magazine cut-outs) on canvas with a textured transparent over coating of some type of polymer/acrylic medium. Left side of image is dominated by a hand holding a hypodermic syringe. To the right of the hand are a series of small images including a female torso with a sanding wheel above the shoulders, a bunch of bananas, the head and bust of a 19th century costumed woman, the head of a cat with wires attached to its head, and immediately below these, the skull of an animal with some sort of mechanism attached. The background is composed of large varying color and texture areas. The work is signed in the lower right corner in blue paint "Glen Anderson" and some sort of mark follows the signature, possibly a date. On the verso, the two sides of the stretcher are stamped with the manufacturer's mark, "Artists Material GRUMBACHER New York 10". The left side stretcher is marked in pencil, "Variety," and the top stretcher in pencil "Big Shot". The accession number also appears on the top stretcher marked in black marker.
