SUMMARY:Drawing Portraits
DESCRIPTION:Applying the Loomis method\, learn to create realistic and stylized portraits.  In this three session course you will learn how to understand the structures of the face and be able to draw a head and face at any angle. Pencil methods will be taught\, including rendering and textures\, half-toning\, and learning to draw with erasers. You’re highly encouraged to bring your own supplies\, and there will be “community” supplies available to share!  The instructor will also throw in some challenging lighting and poses to create dynamic portraits! There is a $10 supply fee payable to the instructor for provided materials at the beginning of the session.

DESCRIPTION:The goal of this workshop is to make and complete a mug rug. \nThe skills covered include fabric selection and preparation\, using a rotary cutter and measuring\, and basic sewing machine skills. We will learn a variety of beginning quilting patches as well as how to anchor\, and bind your piece. \nSupplies Needed: \n\nVariety of fabrics. This is a great project to use scrap fabric. You will need enough to make front and back of an approximate 8″ x 5″ plus a some extra. Approx. a total of 1/4 yard.\nSewing machine (size 10-12 needles)\nRotary cutter (45 mm is standard)\nRotary ruler and mat\nBasic sewing supplies- small scissors\, fine straight pins\, seam ripper\, all purpose thread and a pencil.

SUMMARY:Beaded Jewelry & Shibori Ribbon
DESCRIPTION:** Please note the image above is just an example of the process** \nSkill level:  Intermediate to Advanced \nThe theme of these four classes were chosen by the students.  We will make a bracelet but this is no ordinary bracelet.  The base of the bracelet will be made with Shibori ribbon.  Shibori ribbon is hand-dyed silk which is created by twisting\, folding\, stitching\, and binding silk ribbon or fabric during the dyeing process.  That process creates a pleated\, vibrantly colored ribbon that gives you a very elegant base for your bead embroidery.   You will have four colored ribbon choices that have been previously dyed. The beautiful Shibori ribbon base will be embellished with bead woven flowers. All of this will either be attached to your choice of a 2 inch brass cuff or a fiber base that is made for bead embroidery.  If you have them\, please bring beading needles\, embroidery scissors\, beading thread and a pad to hold the beads.  If you do not have them\, all supplies except scissors are available for purchase from the instructor.  An additional kit fee will be charged at each class for the materials for the project.
