Downtown Anderson

The Anderson Center for the Arts is part of a thriving arts community in central Indiana. While at The Anderson, also visit:

The Andersontown PowWow and Indian Market
September 6 & 7, 2008
Anderson is named for Delaware Indian Chief William Anderson, so this event expresses the heritage of every Andersonian. The Andersontown PowWow is an inter-tribal celebration featuring exhibition and competitive Native American dancing. Authentic arts and crafts, Native American food, storytelling, children’s activities and live music are part of the schedule. For more information, go to http://www.andersontownpowwow.org.

The Paramount Theater
Paramount is one of the few “atmospheric” theaters left in the nation. Designed by noted architect and visionary, John Eberson, the atmospheric theater increased economic prosperity in downtown Anderson, attracted people from outside the city and brought hope into people’s lives. During the 75 years of history, the Paramount has shown not only the greatest films, but also featured on its stage such renowned entertainers as Frank Sinatra, Nat “King” Cole, Roberta Peters, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the Artie Shaw Orchestra, Louie Armstrong, Woody Herman, Gene Autry and many more.  For more information, go to http://andersonparamount.org.

Hett Art Gallery
The Hett Art Gallery and Museum was dedicated in 1954. Its mission is the preservation and display of art and artifacts of the Modern Spiritualist Movement. The facility houses in three main galleries the most extensive collection of its kind. For more information, go to http://www.campchesterfield.net/museum.html.

Anderson University
Facilities include the Krannert Fine Arts Center with facilities for music and art; the 2,200-seat Reardon Auditorium; Byrum Hall, site of drama productions; Nicholson University Library, which features a state-of-the-art computerized catalog and extensive support for research; and the Warner Sallman Collection of religious art. For more information, go to http://www.anderson.edu.

Anderson Indiana Main Street (AIMS)
